QUESTION
Typically, when I include a chart in my patterns, I don’t include WS rows in the key if a stitch doesn’t appear on a WS row in the chart, so I edit out the text for the WS row. The problem is that the placement of text edited to a single row sits at the top of the symbol box. The non-edited single row sits centered in relation to the symbol box. I tried inserting a return before the edited text. That centered the text, but also changed the spacing of the symbol box in relation to the other symbol boxes. Is there some way to do this that I haven’t figured out?
ANSWER
The key entries that have the row at the top of the symbol box are actually two lines of text: the first line with the visible text and a second line that is empty except for a new line character. When editing out the WS text, make sure that you edit the new line character too. For example, if you are using the Backspace key just hit the backspace key one more time to erase the new line character. This will set the key text to be only one line and it will be centred on the symbol box.
